đ¤Maximize Chase Points with Points Boost
And what changed in 2026.
Chase quietly reshaped how you redeem Ultimate Rewards and if youâre still thinking in terms of â1.25x or 1.5x through the portal,â youâre already behind.
Points Boost is now the system. And in 2026, it got both more confusing and more interesting.
Hereâs how it works and how Iâd actually use it.
đŞWhat Points Boost is (quick refresher)
Chase introduced Points Boost in mid-2025 as a replacement for fixed redemption rates in the travel portal.
Instead of:
Sapphire Preferred = 1.25x
Sapphire Reserve = 1.5x
You now get:
Dynamic redemption rates on select flights + hotels
Marked with a ârocketâ icon in Chase Travel
Typical value ranges:
~1.25x - 2.0x (most offers)
NEW: up to 2.5x on select properties (2026 update)
The catch: not every booking qualifies and pricing is inconsistent.
What changed in 2026 (this is the important part)
1. Fixed value is basically gone
The old predictable portal redemptions are no longer the default.
Value is now deal-based and dynamic
Many bookings fall closer to ~1â1.5 cents per point
Some previously strong rates (like 2x on certain hotels) have been reduced
đ Translation: you actually have to hunt for value now.
2. NEW: 2.5x Points Boost (highest ever value)
This is the headline update.
Chase is now offering up to 2.5 cents per point on a curated set of luxury hotels - primarily within The Edit collection.
Thatâs meaningfully better than:
Old Reserve rate (1.5x)
Typical Points Boost deals (1.5â2x)
Where youâll see 2.5x:
These are not widespread. Theyâre limited, curated properties tied to Chaseâs âTop trips for 2026.â
Examples include:
Four Seasons Hotel Osaka (Japan)
Nobu Hotel San SebastiĂĄn (Spain)
Grand Hyatt Deer Valley (Utah)
The Ritz-Carlton, Portland
Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam
đ There are ~10â11 properties total (as of April 2026), and availability is dynamic.
âď¸How to Actually Use Points Boost (the right way)
1. Treat it like a deal - not a baseline
Donât assume your points are worth 1.5â2.0 cents. Instead:
Apply search filter for Points Boost
Compare against:
Cash price
Transfer partner value (Hyatt, Airlines , etc.)
đ If youâre not getting ~1.8â2.5 cpp, itâs probably not worth it.
2. Use it for Luxury Hotels (this is where it shines)
Points Boost is strongest when:
Cash rates are high
Transfer options are weak or nonexistent
Thatâs why the 2.5x properties matter. Youâre effectively getting outsized value without transferring points
đ Think:
Boutique luxury hotels
Resorts not bookable via partners
3. Stack with âThe Editâ perks
Many boosted properties are part of The Edit (Chaseâs luxury hotel program), which can include:
Property credits (usually $100 for the entire stay)
Breakfast
Potential upgrades
đ This can push your real value even higher than 2.5 cpp.
4. Compare with Transfer Partners (always)
Before booking:
Check Hyatt website/app
Check the airlineâs app/website
đ Because transferring points out vs. using points boost can give you two very different prices and one could be an easy winner vs. the other
5. Use it for Simplicity (this is underrated)
Sometimes the best use case is:
No award availability
Weird routing
Last-minute booking
Points Boost lets you:
Book like cash
Avoid award availability constraints
đ Itâs the âeasy buttonâ when transfers donât work.
When I Would NOT Use Points Boost
â Low boost rates (~1â1.3 cpp)
â When Hyatt redemptions are available (and winning in terms of cpp)
â For premium flights (transfer partners usually win)
